I am Nishikanta from Odisha, an Integrated MSc student at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), working under the guidance of Dr. Debasmita. My research explores the association of different genetic variants with Fuchs Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy (FECD), a complex corneal disorder with significant clinical implications. Through my work, I aim to contribute to a better understanding of the genetic factors underlying FECD, which could help in the development of improved diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Immersing myself in lab discussions and collaborative problem-solving has not only refined my technical skills but also nurtured my curiosity and commitment to research in ocular genetics.

My city of origin is Haryana. I am currently pursuing an Integrated MSc in Biology at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER). My academic interests span molecular biology, epigenetics, and bioinformatics, with a particular fascination for understanding complex biological systems through both experimental and computational approaches. Currently working on FECD in Dr. Debasmita's lab. Engaging discussions with my mentors and peers have enriched my professional skills and shaped my research perspective, inspiring me to explore interdisciplinary connections in biology.

Daksh, Integrated M.Sc. student, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar.
"My toolkit blends pipettes and Python, chasing breakthroughs in epigenetics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. In short: if it has DNA, I want to know its secrets (and maybe teach it a few new tricks), whether it's about meristematic gene switch or Jumbophage genetic regulation"
In the current scenario, I am working on 'Pseudoexfoliation' under the guidance of Dr. Debasmita Pankaj Alone and other mentors with a zeal to enhance my knowledge.
I explore how genes are switched on, silenced, or rewritten — from engineering rice meristem DNA at IISc to mapping and understanding phage transcription at UCSD.
